12:00 noon "Mrs. Dieri, what exactly did you see that night?" Lindsay started the interview. Peter stood behind the camera, adjusting the tint and zoom, making it as perfect as he could. Anton sat beside Peter with a notebook and pen in his hands. "The sun was setting over the ocean, beautiful as usual. All of a sudden I heard the children on the beach screaming something about an animal going after the swimmers. The people out in the water swam furiously back to shore, away from something. When they got to the shore, they were covered in snakes, of all sizes and colors," Mrs. Dieri told them. Peter shivered, not liking what she was saying. "What happened next?" "Everybody left as quickly as possible, because they saw the snakes falling from the sky out towards the middle of the ocean, and they thought it was going to come this way. Me and a couple others stayed in our cars to see what happened. I think one person got it on tape." "Do you know their name?" "I believe it was Ms. Derby who taped it. She was staying at the hotel just down the street when it happened, but I don't know if she's still there." "What happened to all of the snakes after they came on the beach?" "I don't think anyone saw what happened to them. I was the second to last to leave, and they were still there when I went home." "Thank you, Mrs. Dieri. We'll keep in touch," Lindsay said, standing up and shaking the witness' hand. "Mrs. Donner," she replied. "We could really use someone to help us get rid of this. It's bad publicity." She walked away from the front porch of her house, where they had done the interview, and left Peter and Lindsay alone. "Pleasant, isn't she?" Lindsay said half-sarcastically. "I've seen nicer," Peter replied while packing the equipment to put back in the van. They now had to find the lady with the tape.
12:21am "Praeger," Matt answered the incessant ring of his cell phone. "Yeah, Matt, it's Peter. We found one of the main witnesses, but we might be able to get a tape of the sighting. We'll be working on that this afternoon." "How'd the first interview go?" "Better than expected. We have a couple of leads, more than enough for one day." "You and Donner keep working on that. Is Anton around?" "Yeah, he's here." Peter passed his phone to the doctor. "Anton, did you find anything?" "If there is a mind block implanted in her memory, it's very well hidden. I think that's a lost cause," Anton replied. "Good work. Put Pete back on?" "Sure." Anton passed Peter his phone back. "Yeah?" Peter said. "I'll meet you guys back at the lab at 7:30 for a briefing," Matt told him. "Can do," Peter replied, then hung up. He finished putting the video equipment back in the van and climbed in behind the wheel. They were off to see a woman about a tape. |
